Performance Management and Performance Reviews
Performance management is a process by which managers and employees work together to plan, monitor and review an employee’s work objectives. This will ultimately link the organization’s goals and strategies to individual and team performance, to increase organizational effectiveness. More than just an annual performance review, it is a joint, continuous process that involves both managers and their direct reports in setting objectives which correlate to the higher goals of the organization. This involves assessing progress and providing on-going coaching and feedback to ensure that employees are meeting their objectives and career goals.
Every company wants their employee to succeed, reach their highest potential, and meet their career goals. A performance review is a catalyst to allow this to happen. It is is an opportunity for individual employees and managers to engage in a dialogue about performance and development, and to discuss what support, if any, is required from the company.
Performance Management is the best route to learn and understand what should be happening at all levels in an organization, and then measuring whether it is happening as intended. Where there is a gap between these two, a performance management system will help identify the causes and help implement corrective actions.
A 360 degree review can be very useful for many organizations and employees. This gives an employee confidential feedback from direct reports, peers, and supervisors. We also like to take it one step further, allowing each employee to give valued, confidential feedback on the company. We will then take all of this data and create an action plan for improvement in each area in order for employees to understand how they can grow and develop in their roles, which translates into more productive, committed, and loyal employees.
As well, for the company portion of the review, we will put together an analysis of the results and make suggestions on how to improve in order for the company to be of service to their employees, increase morale and productivity, and run more effectively.
